Hamilton: An American Musical, also known as Hamilton, is a Broadway show, lyrics, and music that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote. Lin Miranda also wrote the book. Lin Manuel plays the part of Alexander in Hamilton. Lin-Manuel was influenced by Ron Chernow’s 2004, biography of Alexander Hamilton.

The musical lasts 2 hours 45 minutes. It features upbeat music, singing, and rapping that gives the story a positive feeling. However, there are some songs with darker themes. There are 46 songs total. As of July 5th 2016, the most listened to song in the musical was ‘Yorktown’ (The World turned upside down). The musical features an additional cast of actors of color who play the roles of various historical figures and founding fathers. Joseph Papp established the Shakespeare Workshop New York City theatre in 1954. The now-famous musical sold out its debut. It was also released on Broadway by the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York in August 1955. Hamilton was Hamilton’s first Broadway performance. It received great critical acclaim and a surprising rise in box-office sales in 2016. Hamilton won 16 Tony Nominations. It also won 11, including the best musical. In 2016, it set a new record. The musical won numerous Drama Desk Awards including one for outstanding musical in 2015, and another 14 nominations.

It consists of two acts that tell the story of Alexander Hamilton’s life through major events in American History. It tells Alexander’s story from beginning to end.
